I love how our booth turned out. I told my husband I wanted it to look like a wall in a house and we ended up building a giant grown-up version of a school tri-fold project board. The pictures are not so lovely (thanks ballroom lighting!) and I didn’t get one of the whole booth, but I wanted to show you all how it turned out.

I had planned on taking pictures of all of the other cute booths, but amidst the forgetting of my breast pump, arranging for it to be brought (and dying in the meantime), finding a private location to use the aforementioned pump at a huge hotel (much more of an adventure than it should have been and quite a great story) and chatting, shopping and maintaining my booth, I totally forgot. Longest sentence ever and tmi- I know, I know.

I did- however- manage to snag a picture of Hudson’s first modeling job in the adorable YellowMeDaisy booth:

Yep, he’s a stud.

Jessica & Mique did such a great job of organizing the event- as always. Thanks so much ladies for all of your hard work!

I absolutely love it! Great quality and super quick turn around. Just like their name suggests, it was really easy to order as well. It first perfectly in our little built-in and I just cannot help but smile when I look up at it.

The only thing I wish could have been different is that it would not have zoomed in so much. I like the composition of the original image and when I went to order the canvas, the editing software on the website had already zoomed in.

With not much time to prepare or even think about the party, I decided to make it super simple. We had our guests bring their own picnic lunches and we provided beverages and desserts. I made a tiny bit of decor and it was fun and cheery without being stressful for me. There is something that is just so nice about sitting around in nature with your friends that makes you smile.

Here is a peak at the party!

We served white sangria and sparkling lemonade and I found an excuse to finally buy that white drink dispenser I had been eyeing at target for months. For dessert, we made angel food cake and whipped cream, as well as coconut milk whipped cream- mainly just for me since I cannot have dairy right now, but it was tasty!- for our guests to make strawberry shortcake.

Sweet, simple and springy.

Today, I am so excited to introduce to you to one of the best things to happen to our company: Bre!

Bre has been working for our company for the past couple of years and has been a true blessing to me. She has a great design eye, a love for people, wonderful graphic design skills and is sweet as can be.

While I have been out on maternity leave, Bre has been running the show. Looking forward, she will continue to be as well. With two little boys in my life now, I have decided that I need to focus more on my family and spend  more time as a mommy. I will still be taken a small number of weddings, overseeing the company and writing here on the blog, but you will be hearing much more from Bre as well.

Bre is not only a wonderful part of Joyful Weddings & Events, but also has become a dear friend. I asked her some questions in an effort to show you a little more about the amazing woman she is:

6. What is your favorite treat?

Pretty much anything with a peanut butter and chocolate….or cinnamon.

7. What do you like to do in your free time? We’ve heard you are a rockstar athlete

Ha. Well I absolutely love the outdoors. Anytime I have the chance to play outside and be active, I take it! I’ve played soccer since I was young, and I plan on playing until I can’t move anymore.

8. Do you have any goals this year?

I’m hoping to run a marathon this fall!

9. If you could get on a plane right now and go anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Oh I would have to say Australia! I have been wanting to go there forever! I would love to experience their way of life, and outlook on leisure…how they take 6 weeks of vacation a year!

It makes me giddy just to wear my new Lisa Leonard necklace- two boys!! It still seems a little surreal.

In anticipation of Hudson’s arrival, I spent the morning with my husband and son, enjoying our last morning as a trio. We went to our favorite coffee shop in Encinitas and then went down and played at the beach. I am so thankful for our little family and cannot wait to see it grow tomorrow!

Blogging will be a little slow over the next few weeks as I am on maternity leave, but be sure that we have lots of good stuff in store for you, including a new face and lots of pretty weddings!

It just launched yesterday and I am so excited that one of my baby showers was featured on the first day! Last week, I showed you the bow-tie baby shower we threw for my friend Jesi Haack. Well, a few weeks ago, I got to be on the other side of that and my sweet wedding industry friends threw me the most creative shower ever!  Jesi, Melody of Sweet & Saucy Shop and Carissa of JL Designs made the day so special and detailed- I could not get over how cute everything was! Along with super cute invites by my friends at Posh Paperie and gorgeous photos by Carlie of Gabriel Ryan Photographers, the shower was darling and made me feel so special and excited for little Hudson. Thanks friends!

One of my major goals for this year is to get all of last year’s weddings blogged before my maternity leave (only 5 weeks away- crazy!), so there will be lots of fun on the blog in the coming weeks. Until then, here is a peak into Christmas at our house:

My son and I had fun decorating his room up a bit. He even got his own little tree to put all of his handmade ornaments and crafts on. It was so fun seeing him get so into Christmas this year!

Looking back through these memories, it makes me a little sad that the holidays are over, but also so excited for what this year has to bring. Especially our new little man! (6 1/2 weeks to go folks!)

From what I’ve heard from recipients so far, Isaiah’s version of Merry Christmas is the runaway favorite

This Saturday, I will be selling my items at a boutique here in North County San Diego. This boutique is extra special because a group of friends and I are putting it on in response to wanting to do something this holiday season to think outside of our little world. To use what we have locally to share God’s love with those in need.

We named the boutique Ubuntu which means kindness, compassion, humanity in Bantu. You can read more about the definition in the photo below. Each one of us selling items will be donating a portion of our proceeds to a charity of our choice.

I chose Blood:Water Mission, which is a grassroots organization that empowers communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crisis. They build wells and AIDS clinics and save lives daily. You may remember the Build A Well project my husband launched a while ago. I am so excited to be able to continue our commitment to getting clean water available in Africa.

The boutique is from 9:00-12:00 in Escondido and I would love it if you locals could stop by! There will be lots of cute handmade baby items, purses, jewelry, gifts, decor & some items handmade in third world countries.
