Lauren and Mark’s Seal Beach Wedding

I am still slightly in shock that it is 2010. I am looking forward to the year ahead and also am taking the time to look back at 2009. I have some great weddings that are still waiting to be blogged and I am excited to share them all with you!

First up is a cheery summer wedding of super sweet Lauren and Mark. Lauren and Mark are from the East Coast, but lived here in Southern California while Mark finished up his medical residency. The two grew to love their new hometown of Seal Beach and wanted to share it with their wedding guests, most of whom would be flying in from out of state for the wedding. They were married at a cute little church there in Seal Beach- St. Anne’s Catholic Church with the reception at the Old Ranch Country Club.

Lauren wanted to incorporate a good amount of color in the decor, while keeping the reception clean and simple, so we decided to use a base color of a cheery turquoise blue and then integrated pinks and reds in the ceremony decor, bouquets and cocktail hour. Then, for the the reception, we kept the blue running through while keeping most everything else white.

For the escort card display, we wanted to incorporate the change from red and pink accents to white, signaling the change from the cocktail hour to the reception. We came up with the idea of having a flowerbox that changed hue starting with red and ending with white. We used blue scrapbook storage boxes from Martha Stewart (sold at Michaels) and had the florist fill them with styrofoam and carnations. We stuck in sweet escort cards made by Posh Paperie and the outcome was super cute! The tabs on the front of the boxes said “Find Your Seat”.

I could not get enough of the back of Lauren’s Oscar de la Renta gown.

Rather than showing a slideshow, the couple wanted to showcase some of their favorite photos in a unique way. We created a 8′x7′ photo line, using ribbon hung from a stand and attached childhood and engagement photos using our favorite paper clips from Paper Source.
